Kappa 10-Year Reunion

How is it that 10 years have already passed since college? Where has time gone? A week ago, a portion of our pledge class gathered to tour the house, grab dinner and drinks. It was great to catch up with everyone, especially those I hadn't seen for quite a while, share crazy stories of our old college days and our current crazy days with kids, etc.

I hope it won't be anothet 10 years before we're together again!

Hanging with Ava and Max

The day after the Kappa gathering, we got together with another special group, the Staub's, Sauers and papa and grandma Gable before the Staub's headed back to Arizona. Mason always enjoys hanging out with Ava and Max.

KDC Madness

About ten years ago, post college, we started the Kappa Dinner Club - a small group of college friends that would rotate from house-to-house or apartment-to-apartment having dinner and enjoying good food and conversation. Over the years, our group has grown, and on occasion, included spouses and/or children as time evolved. Our current group doesn't get together as often now - especially with a few folks living out of town and state. But, a Husky Games is always good excuse to bring us together, and on Sept. 17, we gathered at Samar's house. In total there were 21 adults including Kate's parents, and 19 kids.  Can you say craziness, noisy and fun?!

With all of the kiddos and trying to catch conversation when we could, there ended up being little time for picture taking. Here are a few pics that we somehow snapped.

Lil Kickers Kick-Off

Instead of Little Gym this fall, Mason is doing Lil Kickers soccer with some of his Little Gym buddies, Avery and Jackson. It's a little earlier than the class they did before together, but it gets us going on Saturday and he seems to be enjoying it. It's a chance to run off energy, practice listening and teamwork. Andrew was out of town the first weekend, so Papa and Grandma Gable came along to help corral the kiddos.

- Height - 27 1/2 inches (50th percentile)
- Head circumference - 17 3/4 inches (75th percentile)

I also snapped this pic of Chloe sporting her new Husky purple hat.

First Day of Pre-School

How is it that my little guy is already heading off to pre-school. With a teacher in the family, the start of the school year is always a momentous event, but this year, it was a whole new level of momentous. The backpack was purchased for Mason's June birthday - a fire truck theme that he chose; we had a spiffy new shirt to sport with jeans; and the hair was cut last weekend so it was looking stylish. A week ago we got a chance to stop by the pre-school for an open house to find out Mason's room and meet his teachers. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Teacher Christy and Teacher Kim who we met during a check-out session before registering were going to be Mason's teachers. He got to decorate a goodie bag, in which he would put a favorite item, got his picture taken for his "all about me" form and checked out his class.

Yesterday morning was a flurry of activity as we all got ready for the big day. Mason seemed a little tired from staying up late the night before choosing which stuffed animal he was going to take to meet his new friends. I think the excitement is what helped rouse him out of bed, too. We were able to snap a few pictures before heading off.

8, 9

Time has just gone by too quickly this summer and I've been a little behind on blogging. So, I need to do a little catching up about Chloe.

Chloe - In just a few months, so much has changed with you. You've officially sprouted two teeth on the bottom and you flash them frequently with all of your grins. I just love how happy you are and how much love and happiness you show towards your dad, your big bro, to me and of course the grandparents. When others meet you, they all comment on how happy you are so I guess we're doing something right.

Your eyes are becoming more blue and your hair blonder. We always wondered if we would have a toe-head since your mom and dad were, but your brother has stayed kind of dark blonde. As your hair is growing in, it keeps getting lighter and lighter so we might have a blondie on our hands.

You still think your brother is simply hysterical and almost every day, he sets you into a fit of giggles, which gets all of us going. And, you are the apple of both your brother and your dad's eye.

We thought you might be slow to become mobile, but in a few short weeks, you have mastered scooting around with your feet and on your bottom. It amazes us how quickly you can scoot across a room with those movements. And now, you are starting to pull yourself up on the couch, our legs and furniture, so we wonder how long it will be before you actually decide to take steps without our help.

We love you so very much and can't believe that it's just a few short months until your 1st birthday. Where did time go?
